Ahh, Spring!

The sights and smells of Spring bring memories of long ago and some more recent. Good memories of other Springs, other years.

Farm machinery is out in full force. As sleeping soil in the fields is disturbed by the plows, there is a Spring smell to it. New buds fill the trees and shrubs. All of a sudden, leaves and flowers fill the landscape. Everything is green – so many shades of green!

Ponds, rivers and lakes are full and overflowing. The water is clear and fresh.

Summer is right around the corner. But until then, new life coming with Spring, makes me think of new life in Christ. The old is gone, the new has come – new heart, new thoughts, new activity, new growth.

A new person has been born – born again in Christ!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…1 Peter 1:3

Flying High!

I saw some birds today; birds I have not seen
Such beauty God created and they were flying free!
Their colors were unique and each reminded me
That God is in the details of such awesome artistry!

Bird watching is to enjoy and I do! But when I am surprised by birds I haven’t seen or ones that certainly have never been in our backyard, I get excited! This morning, while driving, a very large, very beautiful hawk was flying very close to the car. It had many shades of grey and looked silver and was a thing of beauty as it flew up and away. Then later, in the backyard, there were four large, Veery Thrushes. They hung around all day and spent a lot of time in a tree close to the kitchen window.

I used to take birds for granted, but I see them differently when I think about God’s design. They are so intricate and detailed in their creation. Each one looks like a picture or a greeting card.

God created us with uniqueness and detail as well. And He cares for each of us even more than He takes care of the birds He created. I love that! As I watch birds – familiar ones or ones new to me, I think about God watching over them and me and all of mankind. And how He loves them and us – His creation!

BUT, He sent Jesus to die for mankind; to set us free. When we acknowledge and repent of our sin and receive Christ, we will indeed be flying free as we soar to new heights in His love and care.

These thoughts come to mind when I enjoy “bird watching”.

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6:26
Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:31

Happy Day!

O, happy day
Jesus lives
Therefore I say
…O, happy day
He’s my Savior
He’s the way.

My love for Him
Keeps on growing,
His love for me
Is overflowing;
Such joy I know
Can’t hold it in,
He holds me close
I belong to HIm.

O, happy day!

What a day is this! What a day every day is…because Jesus lives. He is alive and is always available-night and day; hour by hour, minute by minute. He brings joy because He is joy! Oh my, this is a joyous AND happy day:)

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound. Psalm 4:7

Old And New!

There is nothing new under the sun, but I was thinking…there is a lot of “old” under the sun. And old isn’t bad although new is good, too. Without old, there wouldn’t be experience and without experience there wouldn’t be wisdom and without wisdom new might not be so good!

“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” isn’t always true. And sometimes a new dog should learn a few old tricks!

I think things should continue as they’ve always been – a mix of old and new. I mean, I enjoy my eclectic decorating theme; a blending of family antiques and a new little side table I recently purchased at TJMAXX. I love my new walking shoes to go with the old clothes I wear when exercising. These days I like the old news better than the new news! But when it comes to what works the best all around, the answer can be found in a very old book that works well in our new times.

And that would be the Holy Bible.

Hmm…that’s where “there is nothing new under the sun” comes from.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 “That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and THERE IS NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN.”

I’m not sure where “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” comes from, but my old Grandmother said it a lot and so did my older, but newer parents:)

One Anothering!

What a joy it is to pray
For those who need His touch,
To ask for help and healing
For those He loves so much.

When there is nothing more to do
Nothing I can say,
I know that God is waiting
As I come to Him to pray…

He takes the burden of my heart
The cares for others dear,
He answers in His time and way…
I pray and He will hear.

Pray for one another…Ephesians 6:18
I call on You, O God, for You will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer. Psalm 17:6

My Salvation!

I thank my God for my salvation
And often share with exclamation!
He is Savior to all men
God’s Gift if we will turn to Him.

The lost don’t know
What love they’re missing,
When over and over
They keep resisting;
His forgiveness, mercy
And His lasting grace,
He’s so worthy of all our praise!

God our Savior…wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:3-4
God says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2

God’s Friendship(s)!

Sometimes I wonder what I would do, if I didn’t have God and I didn’t have you. Life just wouldn’t be the same; I couldn’t live through heartache and pain. Without my Lord and friendships of mine, life would be difficult with less hope over time. But joy of joys, God’s always there and He’s blessed me with friends who pray and who care. With hearts in tune with our Refuge and Rock, how good it is that we’re all in His flock. He calls us to come, to follow His lead. We’re sisters and brothers, and so often in need. The support and assurance first comes from Him, but He’s gifted us more by giving us friends!

Thank You, God for You♥
Thank You for my friends♥

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10
Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13

Mother Blessings!

I’m again looking through and reading books relating to Mothers. And again, I’m reminded of God’s love for me as He blessed me with my son and daughter! I’m thankful for the years they were my “kids” and I’m thankful for them as adults. The extended blessings of having a son-in-law and daughter-in-law to love and enjoy as well, are truly gifts God has bestowed upon this grateful Mom!

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17
Proverbs 31:28 says “Her children rise up and call her blessed…” I am blessed. Thank you God for my children and their spouses:)

Reality!

Who is really real
In every situation?
Are we seen as who we are;
Does that need some explanation?
I mean, do we ever fake it,
Do we act like all is fine?
When inside our heart is breaking…
Can people read between the lines?
Can we try to hide it,
All the pain and hurt inside?
And do we smile through it,
Set our sorrow to the side?
Well…
No matter if we’re honest
And if normally we’re real,
A happy face and pretense
Might hold us ’til we heal!

And prayerfully, because of God, we will heal!

“I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security,” says the Lord. Jeremiah 33:6

A Special Find

I was looking through some of my books today and found two I forgot that I have. Both warmed my heart as I saw they were gifts from my daughter. They both have Mother in their titles. As I began to read through them, I got excited. I can hardly wait to sit down with them and reread what brought such joy the first time I read them! Most likely, I’ll share some of that joy right here. Thank you, Amy, for loving me. I love you!

God finds ways to encourage our hearts
To cause us to look up to Him,
Even a book that sits on a shelf
Can be a wonderful friend!

A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. Proverbs 11:25
