God, The Good News

Nobody wants to hear bad news
I can totally understand,
Most of us want to run away
And bury our heads in sand.

But it isn’t just debate anymore
Between opinionated heads,
Saner minds and frightened hearts
See reality instead!

We can’t ignore similarities
To what happened in the past,
Truth revealed but much too late
Still has us all aghast!

The power of men can destroy
And take our freedoms away,
It happened before in history
And can happen again today.

It’s getting late for things to change
But we need to pay attention,
To news we may not want to hear
Or ever have to mention!

Overall, the One over all
Knows what we’re coming to,
The time is now and the news requires
His salvation for me and you.

I fluctuate back and forth when sharing concerns for our nation and for her future. Do I discuss bad news when there is so much of it? The daily bombardment all around us is jaw dropping. Who am I to ruin someone’s day or make them deal with reality? Political correctness would dictate that I leave anything politically incorrect out of conversations, period. Why should I or anyone have to deal with the truth of the matter when the truth of the matter is that there is so much deceit going on?! Ignorance is bliss. Right?

The problem I have is that I know what scripture reveals. I know that scripture is true and because that is so, there are so many “news” issues that can’t be shoved under the rug, so to speak. And burying our heads in the sand won’t work either. At least not in the long haul! So….does one speak out and in doing so, be the deliverer of bad news? I confess that I’d rather not because I know everyone doesn’t see it the way I do. We all want to hope for the best in the change(s) we see happening and with more to come, but I wouldn’t place any bets or faith in what I see from those in charge of our nation’s future. And the times we live in have some serious stuff going on that I find it impossible to ignore and be nonchalant about.

My solution in all of this is to discuss the news of the day as circumstances dictate and at the same time, remind and encourage others with the Good News that is God. That He holds the future, so He is the One to trust our future to. Because of Him, we have hope. His gift of salvation through Jesus Christ secures our future for eternity and no man can harm us in any way when we belong to Him. Scripture says that today is the day of salvation. We shouldn’t wait any longer to come to Christ for forgiveness
of our sin(s). The really, really good news is that He washes us clean, gives us new life and new purpose and we spend eternity with Him. We couldn’t ask for better news and it is the news I most like to share! It is beyond “fair and balanced” because God is God and is always the “news of the day” we most want to hear!!!

The Lord is high above all nations, And His glory above the heavens.
Psalm 113:4

The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
Psalm 118:6

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:31

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

And don’t forget: “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation.”
2 Corinthians 6:2b

The cross of Christ makes our salvation possible – yes, even today!
